A New Beginning[]
A loud crash bellowed across the Port, The small naval vessel had once again arrived at the shore as the town bell struck midday. Once a week like clockwork Itsuki remarked to Hiro as they lay atop the cliff facing the Ocean looking down at the despicable men that had once again arrived at their small port town to demand "protection" money. Whats worse is that these men dressed in all white where Marines, Those who swore an oath to protect the people from Brigands and Pirates alike. These men where not protectors but extortionists!
Hiro grunted under his own breath while trying to remain unseen " Today will be the day, the day those men will remember for the rest of their lives, The day they will forever regret turning up at our shore. The boys slowly backed away behind the cover of the cliff side Hiro fastened Nikko his Fathers old Nodachi to his back. They slowly made their way down the mountain and towards the Port keeping a close eye on the Five men that had departed the ship, Their leader a small grey haired scruffy looking man walked closer and closer to the town centre with a huge grin on his face.
Itsuki and Hiro waited for the men to turn around the corner towards the mayors residence before trying to sneak onto the ship, It seemed quite old and not very sea worthy barnacles had attached themselves to almost the entire rear of the ship and the dual masts looked like they would snap off if they encountered any heavy winds, A small rusted name plate on the side read Di-Feng. "what a crap hole" Itsuki remarked as he made sure that they had not left anyone behind to guard the vessel, The boys climbed over the wooden railing and onto the main deck the wooden floor creaked every step they took. Hiro quickly stopped Itsuki and pointed towards a heavy wooden door with a small port hole, there was a lone Marine slumped over a chair snoring Itsuki Slowly and quietly opened the door as Hiro unfastened Nikko, Striking the man on the back of the head with the Hilt of the blade. A loud crack could be heard as the man slumped over into a heap on the floor, Help me pick him up Hiro said as they grabbed him by the arms. The man was unconscious but alive, "What do we do with him now" Itsuki said worryingly.
Lets throw him overboard Hiro replied, But we cant Itsuki Gasped. You heard that crack didnt you that was his skull, hes probably going to die anyway at least this way when they come back they wont know what happened. Just go look around ill do it myself Hiro stated as he dragged the mans body out of the door onto the main deck. Itsuki quickly scampered around the Captains room looking for anything of value, anything they could sell to make the money back that these thugs had extorted out of them over the last three months.
other than some small silver trinkets he couldn't see much, This stuff wouldn't even be worth

Hiro rushed into the cabin in a hurry Hide he exclaimed they are coming back, they both scarpered around looking for a suitable hiding place when Hiro spotted a small trapdoor under the desk, In here whispered. The boys had just in so managed to get the hatch closed at the Marines walked through the door, Where has that oaf got to now he was meant to be protecting the chest the leader grunted. He has probably gone for a pee said one of the men ill go look he states as he left.
Hiro could hear Itsuki's heart racing, Shhhh calm down if you dont we will get caught and if we do they will hang us we have just murdered a guy remember. This made Itsuki even more nervous, They never set out with the intention of killing anyone he just wanted to steal something valuable. They where no longer thieves but murderers. "Cant find him anywhere boss" they could hear the man shout as he returned to the deck, Damn it all the leader grunted, Go and check on the chest if that fruit is missing ill have all your heads. Fruit? Itsuki whispered why would a piece of fruit be so valuable to these men surely it's not worth killing your own men over a simple piece of fruit.
They sat under the hatch silently for what must have been fifteen minuets before the three men returned with a small Wooden chest, The boys peered through a small gap in the floor board watching them as they opened the chest and pulled out a small yellow and green fruit, it was like no fruit they had ever seen in their lives.
The commander guaranteed us 15,000,000 for this thing the leader exclaimed 10 million for me and 1 million each for you guys and ill be dammed if we lost it due to negligence.
All four men left the room in a huff with the chest in hand, The boys waited until they could no long hear any foot steps and made their way out from under the floor. What the hell is going on Itsuki exclaimed. They both moved towards the door but one of the men returned to the room, BOSS he shouted we got ourselves two stowaways. The Boys made a run for it, barging past the heavy set man and out of the door only to be greeted by the other two Marines. The men stood in the pairs way laughing as the long Marine in the cabin got back to his feet cutting off any chance of escape. one of the men pulled out a Flintlock and aimed it towards Itsuki, so what do we have here then he snarled did you think you could sneak on board our ship and steel from us eh? how did you even know that we had this treasure, I guess we will have to make sure you don't tell a soul he said right before letting out a laugh. the Marine pulled the trigger but nothing happened, Dam it he shouted not again its jammed. Hiro took this as an opportunity and swung his Nodachi towards the men the blade still in the sheath knocking one of them out cold, Itsuki followed suit and tackled the other man to the floor his fists flying into the Marines face. The last marine the man that was still in the cabin made a run towards Itsuki grabbing him around the chest in an attempt to pull him off the man on the floor. Itsuki thrashed his head backwards hitting the man straight in the face a loud crack was let out as blood splatted all over the floor, MY NOSE the man screamed as he fell back, you've broken my nose you bastard.
Now with all three men on the floor Itsuki picked up the Pistol as they tried to make a run for it but the Marine Lieutenant had returned. The man climbed upon the ship and scanned the area WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON he shouted, Itsuki nervously held the gun up to the Marine as Hiro stood besides him. Don't take another step he said if you do ill shoot you i swear, BANG, Itsuki had accidentally pulled the trigger there was a eerie silence as the Lieutenant's body dropped the the floor. The small chest containing the fruit met the Decking with a loud thud, we need to go Hiro said worryingly you have just killed a marine officer they will send people after us we will be hung for sure now.
If we stay in the town the others will be at risk Itsuki stated calmly he re pointed the gun towards the remaining Marines, We are taking this ship you have two choices either leave now or be shot. Hiro tried to protest but he knew that was all they could do, they had always pretended to be pirates when they where younger but now the entire world would seem them as such.
We are the Infamous Salt Pirates Hiro confidently said to the men, leave now and we will spare you life, The three men slowly got up and climbed off the ship and started making a run for the town in fear. Hiro, Itsuki shouted untie the ship and lets go. Itsuki picked up the Chest that the Lieutenant had dropped, It was covered in a splatter of blood he opened the chest to get a better look at the fruit inside. I wonder what it tastes like he thought to himself, it must be amazing if it was worth that amount of money, Not knowing what came over him either hunger or pain probably both but he took a bite. BLEHH Itsuki almost vomited, but at least his pain had gone he thought. I think its rotten Itsuki shouted over to Hiro as he was unfurling the sails, Your probably right Hiro remarked as the ship left the port, Well i guess where the Salt Pirates now they laughed as they sailed away onto the great northern sea.
A Chance Encounter[]
Finished! Itsuki shouted with excitement, Hiro looked over to where Itsuki had been sitting to see a large black flag sprawled out on the desk. Hmm, not bad he remarked.
i still cant believe we have been sailing for over a week and only encountered a single ship, the seas are a lonely place Hiro said as he polished Nikko.
Itsuki was just about to make his way up the mast before he stopped dead in his tracks, I smell smoke he shouted alarmingly. Hiro take us south he commanded, Hiro pulled on the sail swinging the ship around. You have one crazy sense of smell Itsuki you know that? i cant smell a thing Hiro remarked before letting out a small chuckle.
Its just something i have always been able to do, My father was the same i think it must be hereditary or something he replied.
The ship got closer to the direction where the smoke was coming from when they both saw it, A ship in ruins it was barely afloat. I wonder what went on here Itsuki pondered as he scanned the wreckage looking for any sign of life.
Out of nowhere came a large pop, A bright red flare shot into the air not far from the ship. Look! Hiro shouted pointing towards a small piece of floating wood, Itsuki looked over to see a tall thin blonde man holding onto a piece of the wreckage for dear life. Lets get him out of the water he said, Hiro nodded in approval as they slowly turned the ship and moved closer.
Itsuki threw a spool of rope over the railing towards the wounded man, Grab on Hiro shouted we will help you up.
They had finally got the man on board the ship, Hiro watching him like a hawk withdrew his blade ready anticipating an ambush. Wow that you guys i thought i was fish food for a moment there, The names Walter, Walter quin.
Here, eat some food Walter, What happened here? Itsuki questioned as he handed Walter some smoked fish.
To be really honest i do not know, Me and my crew where sailing through these water when out of nowhere as cannon ball shot through out mast killing the captain in the process. after that happened it was utter chaos, fires broke out after more cannonballs came flying, men where jumping ship trying to survive id only been on the crew a few days but to see them all die like that just isn't right.
suddenly, A loud pop followed by a whistling sound cam out of nowhere, a cannonball flew past the ship, If it wasn't for Hiro's skills the ship would have been decimated. Great steering there Hiro, now where are those damn sons of bitches at Itsuki growled.
The Skirmish[]
Walter ran over to the side of the ship and readied the cannon, Walter are you any good with that ? Itsuki questioned as he shot his eyes back over the wavs looking for the ship that fired upon them.
Of course, i was the best marksman in my town but if i cant see them i cant shoot can i Walter shouted over. Hiro make way i spot something just to the north of here, Who ever those bastards are better have a good explanation for firing upon our ship.
As they got closer the location a ship emerged from the mist. Compared to the Di-Feng it was huge at least twice its size. Sails of blood red and a Jolly Rodger flying high over the mast.
Hiro swing the ship around get in closer but keep out of cannon fire, From now on you are my helmsmen you got that? Aye Captain! Hiro shouted back while frantically turning the wheel.
