Aba Aba no Mi is an article written by Lemasters30.

The Aba Aba no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that grants the user with the ability to create and summon Avatars, a manifestation of a released spirit in a bodily form on the physical plane. As a result, the user is classified as an Avatar Human (化身人間 Kenshin Ningen?). It was eaten by Umori Kenshiro, Captain of the Reaper Pirates and one of the Underworld Emperor.

Etymology[]

  • The word “Avatar” may also represent the embodiment and incarnation of concepts or ideas in human form.

Overview[]

The Aba Aba no Mi grants its user the otherworldly ability of creating a spiritual manifestation of someone, taking over their spirit and giving it form on the physical plane. To do this, Kenshiro will use his own “manifestation” to take over someone and release a spiritual version of the individual, completely obedient to Kenshiro.

Personality traits, skills, and special abilities are “inserted” into the avatar, and in most cases, these abilities possessed by the person are enhanced or by the new avatar form. This can be the case when the avatar belongs to someone who possesses a Devil Fruit. While the avatar doesn’t transfer its devil fruit powers, they can “evolve” to imitate to a certain degree the unique abilities of its host.

Kenshiro can create avatars from others and even the recently deceased. To create them, Kenshiro exerts his powers over someone at close proximity, though it works best via touch. This process leaves the target weakened, and in many cases it cause a lot pain through every cell in the target’s body. During this, Kenshiro essentially “rips out” an avatar of the intended target, a being that can materialize physically and completely obedient to Kenshiro, possessing abilities that closely resemble the original source. Stronger willed individuals can resist this process, tough weaker individuals usually fall unconscious after the avatar is created from them.

While they may develop individuality, they will not preserve the previous person’s personality, rather, inherit aspects of Kenshiro’s own.

As spiritual manifestations that take on a physical form, an avatar can be defeated in battle, however, their spirit will just disperse back to the user, unable to be destroyed permanently unless it is trapped or under the effects of certain devil fruits. As such, Kenshiro can re-summon defeated avatars at a later time.

The avatars seem to grow in strength the greater the ability of its original self, and the longer they have existed as avatars. They are also able to communicate telepathically and share their vision and senses with the user.

Depending on Kenshiro’s needs, he may summon an avatar in its full form, or can even have them be altered in size an appearance. He can also summon them partially or even “wear” one as an armor or an extension of himself.

Weaknesses[]

A major weakness is that certain psychological experiences can be shared with the main body. This was something Belialuin B. Samuel took advantage of, sharing a nightmare through a possessed citizen, which traveled into Kenshiro’s psyche and affected him. However, he has overcome this weakness, becoming capable of cutting the connection between the possessed, preventing the attack from affecting him.

Avatars[]

Kenshiro’s Realms[]

The Six Realms (六道 Rokudō?) refers to the strongest Avatars within Kenshiro's possession, and, as a result, he carries them within his own body. Each of them are said to represent a combination of an aspect of Kenshiro’s own will, and of the realms of reincarnation(seeing as the avatars are essentially “reincarnated” and evolved versions of the previous host). Kenshiro himself represents the seventh path, or the Outer Realm.

Kagutsuchi[]

Asura-Deva[]

Asura-Deva (阿修羅天衆 (アスラ・デバ) Asura Deba?)

Formed of a former monk that attained an incredible level of mastery over Busoshoku Haki, so much so he could "manifest" several "Haki tendrils" in the form of a few dozen arms.

Asura-Deva commands and an unfathomable amount of physical strength. When first revealed, it showered the battlefield with a massive and powerful barrage of countless fists, which flattened part of the already crumbled island of Megido even further. A testament to its strength, Skelton Red required the use of his devil fruit, by conjuring a gauntlet and layering it with dense Busoshoku Haki, in order to clash and force away a punch aimed to smash him into the ground.

On Spicy Pot Island, Asura-Deva's relentless assault on the ground caused the beach to cave in, ripping the ground apart and causing tremors that where felt in the distant town. Even Benjamin Tabart commented as to how he'd be able to deal with such a thing.

In Kenshiro's fight against Cain D. Abel, he demonstrated the ability to only summon parts of Asura-Deva, as he had done in a previous fight with Kagutsuchi, by only summoning a handful of arms that provided from his shoulder blades and back. However, even while powerful, it lacked the sheer strength it had while in it's full form, as Abel was able to take the full barrage by coating his body with Haki.

During this fight, Abel managed to slice Asura-Deva's summoned arms, it is unknown if they will remain like that or they would somehow recover.

Musashi[]

Amidamaruu

Musashi.

Musashi (武蔵 Musashi?), formerly known as Wind Commander Musashi (風将の武蔵 Fūshō no Musashi?), was a powerful samurai from Wano. He was so prominent, Guimmard Reiner recognized him immediately. It is Kenshiro's strongest avatar. In fact, he was so confident in Musashi's skill that he sent him to face two Rear-Admirals. Because of his strength, Kenshiro still has trouble controlling him and it requires a considerable amount of power to summon and maintain active.

Athena[]

Athena (アテナ Atena?)

Asauchi[]

Asauchi (浅打 Asauchi?, literally meaning "Shallow Hit") This is Kenshiro's own spirit, the Outer or Seventh Realm. Asauchi has demonstrated a few abilities, like the ability to merge with the elements. It serves as its main ability, and the amount of control and things its capable of doing are impressive. It has merged with lava to create a giant lava monster, with sand to create a sand golem, and even with the air, clouds and lightning itself, as demonstrated when it whipped up a devastating storm out of nowhere that responded to Kenshiro's emotions.

It also demonstrated the ability to merge with Kenshiro and absorb his injuries. It’s main purpose, however, is to create other avatars or to possess others.

Ark of Embodiment[]

Main article: My Hunt, My Raid

Being outmatched in power and skill, Kenshiro reveals his ultimate form. By combining his own being with that of Musashi, becoming an avatar himself, they became a new being. With a simple downwards swing, "Kensashi" nearly cut the entire island in half, while only claiming the strike was "decent".

It is possible he can achieve similar transformations with his different avatars.

Maya’s Avatars[]

Lanterne of Light[]

The Lanterne of Light (灯の光 Tomoshibi No Hikari?) or more humorously called the LOL are the most powerful avatars at Maya’s disposal, each embodying a different sin and demon from satanic mythology. The LOL are incredibly strong, some being cyborgs of Maya’s creation, and some being legendary warriors and creatures of their time, all still equal in their own right, their reputations alone causing them to be feared by a large majority of the world. Due to Maya’s extensive mastery of the fruit and it’s power, each of the avatars have been pushed past their known limits and awakened powers they otherwise couldn’t have when they were “alive”.

Forms[]

Trivia[]

  • The fruit's abilities bear great resemblance and is inspired by the Soru Soru no Mi. While the Soul-Soul Fruit creates homies out of inanimate objects and animals, the Aba-Aba no Mi creates Avatars out of live beings.
