Al Khalifa Ain, also known as "Ember Phantasm", is a Red Oni, the third Captain of the Notch Pirates, an influential underworld broker, operating under the name of "Neta" and the newest member of the Shichibukai. Additionally, she is a member of the Khalifa Tribe.

Ain is the granddaughter of Oni chief, Das Dev and Das Devika, and is by extension, related to Horseman Draco D. Damon.

Formerly a member of the Notch's Crow Division and, later down the line, one of its Hell Knights,[3] Ain quickly rose to prominence after Freyja's falling, garnering an initial bounty of Beli120,000,000. Due to this, Ain is regarded as one of the Super Rookies, rising to prominence in the New World after the Horsemen. Her dream is to fulfill her former captain's vision of a new world.

Quickly after her first bounty, Ain continued to build the Notch up, gaining multiple territories, crew members and allies, namely Maurier Harlan and Umori Kenshiro in what would become the Purgatory Pirate Alliance. At the same time, Ain clashed against many of the world's influential powers such as Yonko crews, figures of the Underworld and the Marines, gaining her an increase to Beli500,000,000.

Appearance[]

A woman hardened by her past, Ain exerts a rather grim aura that seems to follow her wherever she goes. Her general appearance, physique, and outfits denote this as well.[2]

Even among her tribe, who were renown for their freakish height, Ain is slightly taller than most if not all members. Standing at 7’2 feet of height, Ain towers over some men and woman and has been asked several times if she is of Giant lineage. Her straight posture denotes that she is not the slightest bit ashamed of her size and because of this she can carry herself with gracefulness unlike the clumsiness most who are taller than usual are perceived for.

Her physique is one that is ruggedly feminine, not carrying the sex appeal most woman have, as this is replaced by prominent muscle across her entire body, namely biceps, triceps, legs and abdomen. Across her leg is a red flower tattoo, something that all members of her tribe carry. The remnants of the girl remain solely on her face in the shape of large red eyes. Through the years, these have lost their shine and become dull, as made evident by the bags under her eyes and are rarely, if ever, fully open. The innocent grin of a child now no more than a neutral expression.

Ain's initially pale skin has become fair in pigment as well due to constant exposure of the sun. Her features, though, have remained the same. Ain's face is angled and is coupled by a sharp jawline and chin as well as thin lips and nose. Her somewhat large forehead is covered by a fringe of black raven hair which is swept to the right side, with a part of it being braided. The rest of her hair is rather long, reaching her lower-back and she rarely, if ever, combs it.

Ain's wild appearance is a perfect contrast to her relatively docile and quiet nature, carrying a strange, drawing, sense of beauty.[9]

Before Timeskip[]

Ain wore prominently two different outfits before the time skip. She generally sticks to the same color scheme though, regardless of her attire. The first outfit consists of generally tattered clothing, including broken black shorts held by a black and silver belt as well as a revealing top, showing off her moderate cleavage that is only held together by black threads. Her entire midsection and legs are bare, the most significant feature being the black cape draped over her shoulders. Her left arm is covered in bandages while the right arm and legs are covered in armor.

Her second outfit, which is the one she used even through the time skip. It consists of a white monster-esque mask with red markings, that according to her, is related to the Khalifa Tribe, the mask that she would later use to hide her identity as "Neta". A black and red dress, with similar gauntlets to the previous outfit, just that red in color. Black leggings cover most of her legs as well as black boots, perfect for long traveling. As for accessories she wears several beaded necklaced and a red shawl ties her hair into a ponytail after all, long hair could be a disadvantage in combat.[10]

During the Flesh and Blood Arc, she wore black hakama pants, with red linings, sets of white and golden armor adorning her sides as well as a black and golden gauntlet covering her left arm. She wore a white crop top tied by a red bow and black gloves as well as brown sandals. Her hair was also tied in a long ponytail.

After Timeskip[]

After the time skip, and during the World War Saga, Ain grows slightly taller, and her frame becomes slightly more pronounced, in the form of body curves while still appearing slender. Her face too, becomes more mature, and her features more defined. Her hair, adorned by two red Kanzashi, while still as long as before, is now somewhat curly. Her fringe remain to the right side, with two strands hanging by the sides of her face.

Ain now wears a charcoal kimono top with black and red wave markings, a red sash and belt, tied around black pants and brown boots for preferred footwork. A black glove adorns her right hand while white bandages cover the left. Over her attire, she wears a black coat with golden linings and epaulettes. Zalfiqar's sheath is attached to her side, while she usually straps Proudmoore across her back.

Occasionally, Ain wears more professional attire, tying her hair into a ponytail with a red fascinator. During the Wolf, Anger, and Conquest Arc, she wears a white blazer over a black shirt, a red tie, a skirt as well as black tights and red heels. During Window to Purgatory, she wears a light green business shirt tucked into a long maroon skirt. Likewise during, Blind as a Bat and Death's Door, she wears a black smart coat, black pants and shoes.

True Appearance[]

In her Oni form, Ain's appearance doesn't change much, unlike most. She simply gains two red horns at the top of her head as well as demon-like features. Namely, sharp teeth and nails, her skin becomes somewhat scaly and her eyes turn to a deeper shade of red.
