Beast Brigade is an article written by Black Dwarf Star.

Marine Unit 9102, better known by their nickname the Beast Brigade, is a marine unit currently operating in Paradise. They are led by marine vice admiral Umiyuri, with Commander Esca acting as their second-in-command. The officers in the unit also act as a band, known as Cachalot and the Beast Brigade.

Overview[]

The Beast Brigade is an average-sized unit, with all of their officers and top fighters being women. The officers in question have all eaten Zoan-type Devil Fruits, each one possessing a unique power or ability (namely, Umiyuri's sound waves, Esca's armored scales, Crock's immense speed and reflexes, and Toran's electricity generation). Their status as Zoan Devil Fruit users is what gave the unit their nickname. This makes the group incredibly well-rounded, each one excelling at something else in combat while able to compensate for each other's weaknesses when fighting as a team.[2] Additionally, each officer of the unit has Soldier Pills, an expensive drug that grants them access to an additional Zoan transformation for one hour. This allows for a greater variety of fighting styles, and in some cases increased power, for greater unpredictability while in combat. Each officer refers to the new transformation as a particular "Mode".[3]

The officers of the unit also act in a band, Cachalot and the Beast Brigade. Umiyuri is the front man and vocalist, Esca is the bassist, Crock is the drummer, and Toran is the lead guitarist.

Strength[]

As one of the units deployed during Hell Week, they presumably have considerable strength and stamina to be able to keep up with the number of crimes occurring during the time, especially considering their speed in taking out several pirates.[1] Their commanding officer, Umiyuri, was one of the officers sent to Robben Island to arrest the Signs of Calamity, wherein she was able to fight a majority of the Sea-Star Pirates and Marlin Globo alongside Henry Benjamin.[4] With minimal support from Umiyuri, the unit's other officers were capable of fighting equally against members of the Sea-Star Pirates. They are notable for their strong, group synergy, with each member excelling at something in combat, allowing them to compensate for their allies' weaknesses.[2] Of course, they still display great power individually, capable of holding off members of the same pirate crew without any assistance. As a matter of fact, while the officers were unable to outright defeat the members of the Sea-Star Pirates they fought, they did manage to knock out or otherwise incapacitate them.[3]

History[]

Grand Tour Saga[]

Dog Eat Dog[]

The Beast Brigade were one of the many units deployed during the New Year Hell Week, managing to be effective enough to quickly dispatch a multitude of pirates. It was during a brief break that the unit discovered the Sea-Star Pirates' ship, the Bad Reputation. They then immediately moved to intercept and capture the pirates, deploying the unit's officers.[1] However, as the fights went on, while they were able to knock out or otherwise incapacitate members of the crew, the officers were being knocked out as well. Eventually, the only two fighters left were Umiyuri and Joplin Joan. However, even Umiyuri fell eventually. A few days after the fight, a music video made by the Sea-Star Pirates came out, using clips from their battle. This helped to overall improve their viewership on SeaTube.[3]

Demon Days[]

Having received an SOS message from the island of Salem, the Iron Curtain was dispatched to the island to render aid as part of a joint operation with the Beast Brigade.[5]

Bite Back[]

As part of Umiyuri's involvement in Project Animalia, the Beast Brigade was stationed at Punk Hazard, being integrated into the regular staff there while Umiyuri oversaw her project.[6]
