Fairy Tribe is an article written by Yesdemia.

The Fairy Tribe are a group of sentient small insect-winged humanoids that are native to the Chucklehuck Woods based on an unknown Sky Island.

They were first mentioned by Zahara Annabeth in regards to Miss Super Duper.[1]

Appearance[]

As a humanoid species, Fairies are almost indistinguishable from ordinary humans in terms of outwards physical appearance. In fact, there are only two physical features that actually differentiate them from humans; height, and the presence of insect wings on their backs. The height of a member of the Fairy Tribe may be anywhere from less than a foot to up to five feet, even more if they happen to be a hybrid.[2] Other than these two variables, it seems that Fairies are, in outward terms, mostly human.

Apparently, much like Merfolk and Fishmen, Fairies can belong to specific insect types that show in their wings, like dragonflies, butterflies, or bees.[3] Fairies also appear to be able to hide their wings for an unknown period of time, but they will "force" themselves to appear if a Fairy is exposed to moonlight.

Inter-species Relationships[]

Hybrid Fairies of any variety are rare due to the relative isolation that the Fairy Tribe homeland exists in. However, hybrids are possible, as seen with Mother Carey.

Overrall Strength[]

Much like another race characterized by their small stature, fairies are said to be stronger than most humans despite their size in relation to them. In addition, it can be assumed that a Fairy's wings allow them greater mobility in battle and as such can be seen as an advantage.

Apparently, Fairies rely on moonlight, and they will become increasingly weak without it until they finally perish from lack of it.[4]

In addition to whatever abilities are granted to a specific Fairy based on their wing type, it seems as though all Fairies are capable of using a race-based ability known as Hakaze (羽風, Hakaze, lit. "Wing Breeze"). This ability allows them to manipulate wind and air, an ability most often used to fly at extremely high speeds, although it can serve many other uses. It is due to this ability that the Fairy Tribe is known as the fastest fliers in the world, surpassing any animal or winged humanoid.

Trivia[]

  • The name of their homeland, Chucklehuck Woods, is the name of a forest in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
