One Piece Role-Play Wiki

Fish-Men are one of the world's many races, and one of the two most prominent that live underwater, the other being Merfolk.

Appearance[]

As their name implies, Fish-Men are a combination of human and aquatic animal. A typical Fish-Man has a humanoid body while also exhibiting the traits of these aquatic animals. Each Fish-Man has a representative animal that they take after. Typically, these include fish and their many varieties, ranging from guppies to sharks, though they may also involve cephalopods, crustaceans and even, rarely, aquatic mammals such as whales, dolphins, and seals. However, no Fish-Man resembles more than one aquatic animal.

Due to their resemblance to marine creatures, Fish-Men's bodies bear multiple differences when compared to an average human, even though they are all roughly humanoid. Firstly, regardless of what animal they take after, Fish-Men have a colorful array of skin tones, including white, red, blue, purple, brown, and any other color in between. Secondly, depending on the animal that they are based on, Fish-Men may exhibit certain features that those same animals would. For example, a shark Fish-Man may possess sharp teeth, a cephalopod Fish-Man may be covered in suckers, and a walrus Fish-Man may have enormous tusks. Some Fish-Men may have certain limbs replaced by more aquatic appendages such as tentacles or fins, while others may forego a humanoid shape and have more than two arms and legs.

Hybrids[]

Reproduction between Fish-Men and other humanoid species in possible, and in the instance it happens, Fish-Man hybrids are yielded. Typically, they exhibit qualities from both their Fish-Man parent and their other parent. Fish-Man hybrids tend to resemble, physically, their other parent much more, having a less colorful skin tone and a more humanoid body shape. Additionally, their aquatic features, such as sharp teeth and fins, are far less pronounced. However, they still have these features and are thusly able to use them, albeit to a lesser degree and effectiveness than true Fish-Man are able to.

Overall Abilities[]

Fish-Man are extremely physically strong, with children boasting the strength of ten adult humans, and as Fish-Men mature, this scale increases considerably.

Physiology[]

Depending on what animal a Fish-Man takes after, that Fish-Man may have different capabilities from a different Fish-Man who takes after a different animal. For example, Fish-Men based on a mammal such as walruses, seals, sea lions, whales, and dolphins may exhibit an even greater strength than other Fish-Men due to inherent strengths of these animals. On the other hand, Fish-Men based on sharks, anglerfish, and other highly predatory fish may have sharp teeth that can both rend metal and regenerate quickly. Though Fish-Men may not be able to exhibit all of the powers of their counterparts, they are capable of expressing at least some.

Interspecies Relationships[]

Humans on the surface exhibit xenophobia towards Fish-Men mainly due to the Fish-Men's beastly, inhuman, and discolored features. Because of this, the relationship between humans and Fish-Men is strained, if not hostile.

Fish-Men are well-regarded as slaves on the Black Market, due to their immense physical strength and other unique abilities granted to them by their individual fish species. The starting price for most Fish-Men is 1,000,000, which is notably higher than most other slave prices.

However, not all people view Fish-Men as the monsters they are thought to be, and some even interbreed with them. The most notable hybrids are Fish-Men/human hybrids and Wotans (hybrids between Giants and Fish-Men). There are also many Fish-Men that serve as both members of the marines and on various pirate crews, showing that, despite the stigma against Fish-Men, major institutions don't feel quite the same about them.

There are a group of Fish-Men that live in Totto Land, in harmony with all the other races of the world.
