Haoshoku Haki is a rare form of Haki that allows the user to exert their willpower over others. This type of Haki cannot be attained through training and only one in several million are born with this ability.

It is said whoever possesses this type of Haki has the qualities of a king, and are known as Supreme Kings (覇王, Haō^?).

To possess Haoshoku Haki is to have the qualities of a King, as deemed by many characters. Users of this Haki do not attain it, rather, they are granted it upon birth. Charismatic, those of the greatest wills can exert this very willpower upon their vicinity, showcasing their dominance over other living beings and the very world around them. This superiority manifests itself in the form of a pressurized and colored tsunami of pure aura, usually spherical, alongside a myriad of sounds, depending on what stands in the vicinity of the burst. It can be released with nothing short of a thought, taking about a second to come through.

When two users of Haoshoku engage in either a physical or mental clash of Haki, the atmosphere is enveloped in continuous ripples that crack the very air, akin to lightning. This prompts the two pressure waves to merge, greatly increasing their influence in the environment, which also darkens even more.

No matter how much a person without Haoshoku trains, they won't ever be capable of achieving it. However, those that do possess it can improve it by strengthening their spirit directly.

Waves of Haoshoku only affect those who are weak-willed. Those with strong wills may either shrug it off or even ignore it altogether. Even more, the ones affected by Haoshoku will eventually recover from their unconscious state.

Most bearers of Haoshoku Haki have been shown to possess a Royal Position, Epithet, or Status, which somewhat indicates their role as leaders.

• Affiliation: A group notable that their members naturally have high status. I.e: All Shichibukai by default are of high status.
• Occupation: A specific position within an organization. I.e: The Captain of a crew is its highest authority.
• Title: An official name related to any sort of high-rank or royalty. I.e: By possessing an epithet such as "God" or "Strongest".

To further explain the conditions above, an example from below will be used.

• Al Khalifa Ain does not have Notch Pirates nor Firescale as her Affiliations, despite being part of the group, this is because simply being in them does not grant any sort of high status. Therefore, it is her Occupation within each, that of Leader, that counts.

Other Cases

• Cain D. Abel is an odd case in Royal Status, being chosen to succeed the previous holders of the Isho Isho no Mi. However, Haoshoku is not something transferable through the fruit. Thus, other than being the current captain of the Holiday Pirates, Abel can only credit the previous users for any sort of royal title:

• So far, most Haoshoku users are capable of using all three types of Haki.
  • Only Phoebe and Zero have shown the ability to solely use Haoshoku Haki so far.
  • Only Michael D. Shiguma has displayed usage of Busoshoku and Haoshoku Haki, but not Kenbunshoku.
• Draco D. Damon is the first known D. Carrier to show this type of Haki.
