Marine Bases, also known as Marine Home Bases (海軍基地, Kaigun Kichi), are home headquarters for the Marines in distinct regions of the sea that the World Government control. They serve in the capacity of both residential quarters for marine officers stationed there as well as depositories for all manner of significant weapons, ships, important documents, and artillery. These bases also serve as outposts for the purpose of marking progression of dominion in the New World territories, allowing for the Marines to expand their influence in areas bereft of their control. Some are designated for specific purposes such as research and development.
List of Marine Bases[]
Most bases have numbers or letters signifying their specific identity. Some bases are attached to major port cities, and thus bear only the city's name. Of the bases with numbers, these seem to be either Marine Branches (海軍支部, Kaigun Shibu) or the larger Marine Grand Line Branches (海軍G•L（グランド•ライン）支部, Kaigun Gurando Rain Shibu). The latter term is often shortened to a G before the branch number. Marine Penitentiaries (海軍 刑務所, Kaigun Keimusho) are prisons run by stationed marines, some of which hold dangerous criminals before eventually transporting them to Impel Down. For the most part, they are located in the Grand Line, but there are a couple located in the four blue seas. Those terms are often shorted to a K before the branch number. Marine Sky Island Branches (海軍 空島 支部, Kaigun Sorajima Shibu) are marine bases, similar to the Grand Line Branches, that are stationed in various sky islands around the world. Those terms are shorted to an S before the branch number. In addition, there are also the recently established Marine New World Outposts (海軍 新世界 前哨, Kaigun Shinsekai Zenshō), which are branch outposts designated for areas that have been seized from the Yonko who currently rule them. They are designated with the letter Y before their branch number.
