The Marine Expeditionary Force, often referred to as the MEF or as simply Ex, is the exploratory and scientific fleet of the Marines, the foremost military forces of the World Government. It is tasked with a single, unifying mission: "to map and explore the world's lands, beasts, and seas and investigate extraordinary phenomenon." The MEF has long been staffed by numerous legendary adventurers, explorers, scientists, and beyond that have served the world's interests as faithful marines. The MEF compromises a dozen, specially modified battleships that take on missions across the four blues and both halves of the Grand Line.
The MEF first entered into the common conscious of the world's masses during the legendary Red Expedition generations ago, when men and women of the fleet explored the mysterious lands atop the Red Line. However, the findings of that expedition are classified even as the mission itself is treated like a heroic myth by everyday people.
Kwame, a once world renowned marine turned revolutionary, was a celebrated member of the fleet during his naval days.
