The Mochi Mochi no Mi is a special Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to create, control and transform into mochi, making them a Mochi Human (モチ間 Mochi Ningen?).

Etymology[]

  • "Mochi" (餅, もち?) is a Japanese rice cake made of a short-grain, sticky, glutinous rice that is pounded into paste and molded into desired shapes. It is traditional food for Japanese New Year, and otherwise eaten year-round as various confectionary or cooked, savory dishes.
  • Mochimochi (もちもち, モチモチ?) is a Japanese onomatopoeia describing things (like mochi) that are springy, doughy, and chewy in texture.

Strengths and Weaknesses[]

Strengths[]

The user is given the ability to generate and turn any part of their body into mochi, specifically a thick, extremely viscous, white-colored mochi paste they can manipulate as they please. This mochi is thick enough to be used as a blunt-force weapon, and is capable of trapping people, even the strongest of foes due to its sticky and stretchy nature. The nature of the mochi is grand enough to that high-caliber gunfiire is futile, as it is completely unable to pierce through it. Also due to it's malleability and rapport with Haki, the mochi can be formed in various different shapes, such as feet, tendrils and rolling pins, among others.

As a "special" Paramecia, this fruit's ability to turn into mochi is comparable to the elemental transformation of a Logia. To a certain degree, the user in intangible against attacks that are not imbued with Busoshoku Haki, and they can freely alter their transformed body into any shape.

Weaknesses[]

Nonetheless, the mochi loses most of its stickiness if an ample amount of liquid is enforced onto it, allowing a trapped opponent to free themselves from it. The mochi is also edible, primarily if the user isn't actively controlling it. Otherwise, the user is affected by the standard. Devil Fruit weaknesses.
