Mushi Mushi no Mi, Model: Tonbo is an article written by Black Dwarf Star.

The Mushi Mushi no Mi, Model: Tonbo is a Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows its user to transform into a dragonfly hybrid and full dragonfly at will, transforming them into a Dragonfly Human (トンボ人間 Tonbo Ningen). It was eaten by Fly Fly Adams.

Etymology[]

  • "Mushi" (虫) is Japanese for "insect".
  • "Tonbo" is the Japanese word for dragonfly.
  • In the English version, it is called the Bug-Bug Fruit, Model: Dragonfly.

Strengths and Weaknesses[]

The primary strength of this fruit is its ability to grant the user high-speed flight, proportionally equivalent to that of a normal dragonfly's. This also grants the user the various flying abilities of a dragonfly, most notably, motion camouflage (the ability to mask one's movements while in flight). The user can appear stationary, or otherwise headed in a different direction, without the target being able to tell their true trajectory or target. In addition, when fully within their hybrid form, this grants the user extra arms, enhanced sight through the use of compound eyes, and serrated teeth, as well as the standard enhanced physicality most Zoan fruits grant their users. As a Carnivorous Zoan, this fruit would also grant it's user enhanced battle instincts in comparison to ordinary Zoans.[2]

This fruit has no notable weaknesses, except for the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses.

Usage[]

Despite his low intelligence, Adams appears to be very skilled in the usage of his Devil Fruit. Outside of combat, Adams generally uses his Fruit for transportation or simple movement, exclusively sprouting his dragonfly wings to allow for high-speed flight or hovering. He'll even use it for simple tasks, such as dismounting from his komainu, Noah.[1]

When it comes to direct confrontation, Adams will often use his motion camouflage and immense speed to blitz and take down opponents before they have the chance to react. He'll generally attack by manifesting his dragonfly form's serrated teeth, without transforming into his full hybrid form. Adams often enhances his motion camouflage with Kenbunshoku Haki so that even other Kenbunshoku Haki users can't sense his movements until the moment he attacks. Generally, he only enters his full hybrid form when angered or serious in combat, allowing him to take full advantage of his transformation.[2]
