“ | I'm not like you. I know very well what will await us when we will enter the Grand Line... But I won't surrender, no matter the hardships we will face! Mark my words! We will survive through the hell of the Grand Line... No, we will conquer it! We will show the world what we can really do, and not even the horrors that lie ahead will be able to stop us! | ” |

"Ruler of the Winds" Selkirk Geryon is a pirate hailing from the Island of Agnis, the captain of the Godwind Pirates, and a scion of House Selkirk. Having lost his parents, as well as most of his friends and mentor figures, during the tragedy known as the Raid on Agnis, which resulted in either their immediate death or their enslavement, Geryon chose to rebel against a world he considers to be unjust and fight for the freedom of himself and others condemned to the same fate as the Agnissians, choosing to walk the same path of piracy and rebellion as his parents. Wishing to lead the same life of freedom as his mother and father, Geryon began travelling across the first half of the Grand Line in order to gather allies and comrades, as well as to hone his skill further so that his dream may be fulfilled, all the while trying to prove himself worthy of being the son of Selkirk Nadya and Gideon.
However, before his pirating career could properly start, Geryon learned of an illegal auction in West Blue, where his father's sword was on sale. Thus, he immediately left the Grand Line to try and obtain it, even if he ultimately failed in doing so.[7] Afterwards, he chose to remain in that side of the world, before founding his crew and taking to the Grand Line's seas once more. He is also one of the Rookies that appeared on the world scene in 1584.[2]
Due to his defiant actions against the World Government, Geryon received his first Bounty of 60,000,000.[5][8] After years of continued pirating activity and Agnis' second destruction hardened his heart, he would go on to become a member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, in preparation of waging war against those who took his homeland away from him again.
After being defeated in battle by Maurier Harlan, Geryon is currently held hostage by the Hound Pirates.[9]
Appearance[]
Geryon, at first glance, is not someone most people would identify as a pirate because of looks alone. He has black hair and fair skin, but his most prominent facial feature are his blue eyes. He has a slim, but muscular build, which betrays his physical might. He is most commonly seen with an air of prideful confidence, mostly captured in the smirk that often adorns his visage.
During his stay in Agnis, Geryon's choice of clothing often consisted of a dark blue short-sleeved jacket over a grey T-shirt, dark grey pants, and boots, plus a single fingerless glove over his left hand - the latter accessory eventually becoming a signature of his that would carry over in many of his other outfits.
Throughout his earlier travels across the Grand Line, Geryon's hair was pulled back, and his pants were shorter and baggier.
During his attempt at stealing Sandai Kitetsu, Geryon concealed his identity under a hooded cloak, which he discarded during his fight against Zakari, only for him to reclaim it before taking his leave. During his battle against the young marine, a well-placed hit from his opponent caused him to lose a tooth.[10] Aside from these changes, he retains his previous facial features and apparel.
Geryon's appearance at the time of his meeting with Kurai Kage and Kasumi Dokumi presented some slight differences from his previous ones: his hair was tied into a small ponytail on the back of his head, his physique was slightly bulkier and, most notably, he has grown a light stubble. Otherwise, his appearance remains unchanged.
During the events on Monsul Island, Geryon once again boasted a different appearance: His hair was no longer tied in a ponytail and was more orderly, with his new hairstyle being similar to the one he had as a child; he was clean-shaven once again, and replaced his jacket with a similar, longer coat which he wore over his shoulders - something commonly seen among high-ranking Pirates and Marines alike.
During his rescuing of a group of slaves and his return to the Grand Line, Geryon's apparel changed. He now wears a short-sleeved dark blue jacket over a grey tank top, alongside dark grey pants and brown boots with white soles. He now wears a traditional black captain's coat with golden accents, alongside a blue sash at his waist, a small pearl bracelet on his right wrist, his signature fingerless glove on his left hand, and the Kogatana hanging from a necklace. Finally, he dons a belt from which his sword's sheathe and one of his gun holsters hang, with the other placed on a leg strap over his left leg. When disguising himself to infiltrate Paint Punk, his hair was dyed red and he wore elegant clothing with steampunk accents and a cape, courtesy of Bulminarius Flix. This apparel was specifically chosen to imitate that of a certain pirate from the past.
In 1585, Geryon's appearance has received a drastic alteration: while the only significant difference on his actual body was his spikier hairstyle, particularly similar to the one he had when he first navigated through Paradise, he now sports a blue, short-sleeved captain's coat worn over his shoulders, alongside an open white shirt which shows off his toned physique, with grey pants and a green sash which acts as a belt. His shoulder pauldron is now golden in color and, instead of his fingerless glove, he wears a simple bracelet on his left wrist. Finally, he wears white boots with black soles.
In 1588, as a member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Geryon has grown noticeably more muscular and has grown a stubble. He has returned to wearing his black captain's coat, as well as a version of his dark blue jacket with longer sleeves and a light grey design at the bottom. He has removed his shoulder pauldron, instead wearing his old light blue sash wrapped around his right bicep, and has returned to wearing his old fingerless glove. He now dons a brown leather belt from which he hangs the Kogatana, with a golden wolf head as its buckle, and has added a pair of metallic knee guards to his pants. Finally, his boots now have dark soles.
When he was a child, Geryon had a softer jawline and rounder hair. He lacked his distinctive jacket and glove, and wore a T-shirt with the Jolly Roger of the Guardsmen Pirates on the back. He, of course, was way smaller than he is now, being less than half of his current height.
