The Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Albatross is a Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows its user to transform their body into partial and full forms of an albatross, making its user an Albatross Human (アルバトロス人間, Arubatorosu Ningen^?). It was eaten by Donnie.

Appearance

The Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Albatross takes on the appearance of a dead, generic-looking fish with a stem protruding out of its head. It exhibits the standard Devil Fruit swirls around its body and on its tail, though it lacks these swirls on its head and around its eyes. Its appearance is similar enough to a real fish for someone to be confused and eat it thinking they were having a seafood dinner.

According to Donnie, the fruit tasted like a combination of "piss" and "rotting fish."

History

Following the return of the fruit from Morgans to circulation, Donnie found the fruit by chance while fishing. Mistaking it for an actual fish, he cooked and ate it. Though him consuming this fruit was a mistake, he does not regret consuming it.

Description

The Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Albatross allows its user to transform their body into forms with varying degrees of partialness in addition to a complete albatross. One of the largest flighted birds in the world they have massive wings that make them operate like literal planes, a property that has its fair share of benefits and weaknesses.

The albatross's size scaled up to a human level makes Donnie enormous, almost to the size of certain Mythical Zoan-type trasformations, and the combination of his great size and weight, with Tekkai thrown in as well, allow him to barrel through most obstacles. Furthermore, he has special muscles in either of his wings that lock them in place for flight, meaning that even if an attack were to land on his wings and damage him, his flight would largely remain unaffected. It also means that the user can maintain flight for days, if not weeks, on end since there is no strain in keeping the wings unfolded. Because of this locking mechanism, Donnie is able to utilize Tekkai mid-fight to use his wings as blades and his flight, or he can use it on other parts of his body because his locked wings will help him continue flying even while he is immobile. It should also be mentioned that Donnie can fly fairly quickly as well, despite his enormous size.

Additionally, having such large wings, the user's upper chest strength when the user is transformed skyrockets. Using the innate strength and enormous ings associated from his transformation, Donnie is able to generate powerful wind currents, blasts, and even twisters by forcefully swinging and flapping his wings. He is able to away blow foes with great force, such as Millet Poppy across a beach and Shaka off of Oblitesco's main island His winds are great enough to even lift those that weigh in the tons, such as Arsen with his training weights on or Ching Rusla in her full Yamata no Orochi transformation.

As a carnivore, albatrosses have heightened senses for tracking down other lifeforms, which the user will naturally gain as well upon transforming. While its eyesight is middling, it has a keen sense of smell to make up for it, with Donnie being able to detect presences via smell miles away in his full transformation. For example, Donnie was able to sense the Hound Pirates miles away. This sense of smell even can remain when Donnie is in his human form, though to a lesser extent, which was he exhibited by smelling the bloodbath that Shaka had caused. Additionally, they have specialized beaks that are both sharpened for ripping prey apart and fitted with organs capable of measuring flight speed and detecting air currents, which the user gains as well. As such, Donnie often treats his beak like a weapon. He has used it to block direct attacks or catch impending threats, such as swords like Arsen's Shohei or punches and kicks, like Ching Rusla's enhanced punch. Unlike most predatory birds, they do not have sharp talons, instead opting for webbed feet that allow them better movement on the ground. These flat, webbed feet give Donnie an affinity towards Soru and Geppo.

However, the albatross, and therefore the user, is not without weaknesses. With the bird's immense wingspan, the user is unable to fly immediately at will, instead requiring some sort of runway. For Donnie, he must run for at least ten meters in order to gain the lift necessary for takeoff. Additionally, even in flight, a long wingspan is a double-edged blade as Donnie has trouble flying precisely. Though he is able to turn, tilt, dip, and climb, he is not able to do much more, and he is fairly sluggish even when just doing those movements.

Usage

With both natural, Zoan-granted power and skill gained by training, Donnie's sense of smell in all of his forms has shown itself to be extremely precise and accurate, leading him to use it to track others and even detect attacks. Depending on his form, During his break on Molybdenum, he was able to smell massive quantities of blood and ascertain that someone had killed a group of people. He would later be able to identify Oblitesco's unknown invader by recognizing the scent associated with that same killer, Shaka. During battle with Arsen, Donnie was able to sense Arsen's sudden change in position due to the unique smell that the swordsman emitted. On Tempos Modernos, he was able to detect Fukuoka Soren's presence marked by the strong scent of coal despite being hundreds of feet in the air.

Transformations

Cloud Cruiser

Cloud Cruiser (大船雲 (クラウド・クルーザー) , Kuraudo Kurūzā^?, lit. "Big Boat Cloud"): A natural form, Donnie uses the full potential of his Devil Fruit to transform into a supersized albatross. This albatross is far larger than any average one. As with most bird-related Zoans, Donnie grows into a human-scaled version of an albatross. Boasting many meters in wingspan, he is as wide as an average ship. Additionally, he is extremely heavy, boasting hundreds of kilograms. Due to the albatross's wing-locking abilities combined with Donnie's mastery over Tekkai, Donnie is a flying fortress. However, this form is also the most unwieldy as Donnie struggles to maneuver quickly, even being unable to dive without taking a solid few seconds to build up speed. Aside from large-scale combat, Donnie also uses this form to both patrol over the seas and carry the members of his regiment on his back. According to Millet, Donnie looks like a giant cloud when in this form. Donnie's durability while in this form is enough to take on rocks thrown at the speed of cannonballs from Millet and Wobin Bill, and it can resist direct blows from the latter, as seen when the two were attacking Donnie on Feixu. Finally, Donnie is large enough to carry up to twenty full-grown soldiers on his back, which he often does in lower-priority missions that do not require his whole fleet.

• Free Bird (自鳥 (フリー・バード) , Furī Bādo^?, lit. "Self Bird"): Donnie folds his wings up and dives towards his target, using his added weight and sharp beak to deal more damage. While most bird-type Zoans would be able to do a generally weaker version, mainly due to having less weight and size, of this move, the albatross version of this move is quite risky because the time it takes to fully unfold his wings and swoop back upwards is too great, meaning that he will crash-land instead. On the seas, however, it is less risky as he can use wind currents to lift himself up again. Thie name of this move is a reference to Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. This move first debuted in Donnie, Hijiri, and Esmeray's battle against Fukuoka Soren, where Donnie used the move to ambush Fukuoka Soren.
• Daybreaker (涯刃 (デーブリーカー) , Dēburīkā^?, lit. "Horizon Edge"): Hardening his wing with Rokushiki/Tekkai and the albatross's wing-locking ability, Donnie flaps as hard as he can to build up speed. The combination of his great weight, added speed, and tough wings make him a ramming force typically used to take down targets much larger than himself. This move is a counterpart to his hybrid transformation's Little Wing move, though it lacks the cutting power of its counterpart, compensating in forcefulness. The built-up momentum behind this attack is great enough to be was able to harm Ching Rusla, transformed into a massive, eight-headed snake monster, with this attack. The name of this move is a reference to Daybreaker by Electric Light Orchestra. This move first debuted in Donnie's battle against Arsen, where Donnie used the move to clash against Arsen's air slash attack.
• Hurricane Donnie (ドニー台風 (ハリケーン・ドニー) , Harikēn Donī^?, lit. "Donnie Typhoon") One of Donnie's more powerful movies, Donnie forces himself to change trajectory until he is ascending nearly straight upwards. Then, slamming his wings together, he generates an enormous explosion of wind all around himself. Moving his body and flapping his wings in such a way puts a horrible strain on Donnie as his albatross body is never supposed to be positioned at a steep angle, but the magnitude of the attack pays off as it is capable of lifting and throwing objects multiple tons heavy. The name of this move is a reference to Hurricane by Bob Dylan. This move first debuted in Donnie's battle with Ching Rusla, where Donnie repelled her attack from all directions using this move.

Cloud Buster

Cloud Buster (劈人雲 (クラウド・バスター) , Kuraudo Basutā^?, lit. "Breaking Man Cloud"): Created by stopping himself exactly halfway between Cloud Cruiser and his human form, Donnie transforms into a half-albatross, half-human hybrid. On occasion, he refers to himself as Big Bird (大鳥 (ビッグ・バード) , Biggu Bādo^?) when in this form. He prefers to use this form for combat purposes against quicker, more humanoid targets, utilizing his boosted strength and flight capabilities to exceed physically. His body retains a largely humanoid shape, save for thick layers of muscles around his legs and chest from his bird components. His body is covered in a coat of feathers, and both of his arms have wings attached to them, allowing him to fly. While he is not as continuously fast as his full form, he gains much more maneuverability. Notably, he was able to dive downwards and swoop back up to catch a falling Millet Poppy.

• Little Wing (小羽 (リトル・ウィング) , Ritoru u~ingu^?, lit. "Little Feather"): With his hand completely outstretched, straightened out, and hardened with both Tekkai and the albatross's wing-locking ability, Donnie turns his winged arm into a blade-like appendage that boasts of cutting power and durability on the level of at least a Wazamono Meito. He can use this technique to mimic swords and do a variety of blunt and slashing attacks. This move is a counterpart to his full transformation's Daybreaker move, though it lacks the forcefulness of its counterpart, compensating in cutting power.. In addition to clashing well with swords, Donnie's wing is sharp enough to penetrate through Ching Rusla's hardened snake scales, a product of the Mythical Zoan Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model: Yamata no Orochi, all the way down to the bone. The name of this move is a reference to Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix. This move first debuted in Donnie's battle against Arsen, where Donnie used the move to try and attack Arsen head-on with a chop to his shoulder.
• Summer Breeze (南風 (サマー・ブリーズ) , Samā Burīzu^?, lit. "South Wind"): After spreading his wings out, Donnie slams them back together with great speed and force, generating an immense cone-shaped blast of wind in front of himself. This move is notably quite versatile, with Donnie using it as both a direct attack and a counterattack. These winds are powerful enough to send a human weighing roughly a ton arcing through the air hundreds of feet back. However, it can be countered by a more piercing wind attack such as the wind projection of Go D. Sal's kick.The name of this move is a reference to Summer Breeze by Seals and Crofts. This move first debuted in Donnie's battle against Arsen, where Donnie used the move to counter the latter's relentless attacking.

Gale Bender

Gale Bender (屈曲風 (ゲール・ベンダ) , Gēru Benda^?, lit. "Bending Gale"): A special form, Donnie concentrates all of the wavelengths of special energy that his fruit generates onto a single point: his arm. Thus, it transforms into one enormous wing while the rest of his body remains intact. While impractical for flight, with Donnie only be able to flap it in a single direction for an high-power boost rather than truly sustained flight. This lone wing is stronger and larger than the wings exhibited in any of his other forms, but it is much more unwieldy. By swinging or flapping it, he can generate wind currents powerful enough to damage buildings and islands These wind currents' power are capable of exerting a force powerful enough to move a whole person, namely Millet, who was pushed back from the currents despite her incredible strength, and they are also seen blowing Shaka entirely off of an island.

• Aerials (空輪 (エアリアルズ) , Eariaruzu^?, lit. "Sky Wheels"): Jumping high up, Donnie twists and turns midair while dragging his giant wing, cupped, along as well. While utilizing this move, he manages to stay afloat in the air by moving air currents downward around himself while simultaneously generating waves of wind around himself. Initially starting off slowly, after a few seconds, he accelerates and generates more powerful waves more frequently in an all-around radius. This move, while highly forceful, is somewhat slow and easy to dodge, a sacrifice for being able to attack from all angles; as such, Donnie primarily uses it for defense. The name of this move is a reference to Aerials by System of a Down. This move first debuted in Donnie's second battle against Shaka, where Donnie uses it to deflect Shaka's barrage of chains from the front, cluster of chain-nooses from behind, and rain of spiked chains from above all at once by blowing them away.
