Wood Henry is an article written by PrinceBoss1928.

I aim for those at the top who decide the meaning of justice, for the world to be free they must fall.
— Henry stating his mission before setting out to sea

Wood Henry or 'Dead Eye" Henry is a Revolutionary assassin currently working for the group known as the Tea Party. He is also a former assassin from the Revolutionary group known as the Birds Of Prey. His parents were former Marines turned Fisherman who often traded and did business in Alabasta. When Henry was 5 while at sea his families ship was in the path of a Celestial Dragons convoy. As they moved their ship out of its way the convoy fired on them anyway and destroyed their ship. Henry was the only survivor and washed up on shore with just his father's pistol, rifle and hat while holding his mother's pistol and scarf. He grew up with a hatred for the Celestial Dragons and all they represented. This hatred motivated him to become an expert marksman and join the revolutionary army.

After his parents death he lived as in orphan in the streets of Alabasta for 12 years training his skills as a sharpshooter and gunslinger until he reached the point where he never missed a shot. This earned him the nickname of "Dead Eye." He also trained using the techniques he witnessed his parents display at a young age. He used the skills his father taught him as a mechanic to build a small speed boat and set out to sea. He made his name killing nobles across the sea who dared venture across his path. His method of leaving not even a shred of evidence behind when attacking caused the the Birds of Prey to give him the codename of "The Vulture."

Appearance[]

Henry is rather tall compared to the average man going close to 7 feet tall. Having trained his body for 12 years he is not particularly bulky but muscular despite his skinny appearance. He has jet black hair which he used to keep as a long mane but soon trimmed to a normal length to help with his shooting. When he was young and his parents died and their ship was destroyed Henry received a large scar on his back which he sees as his mark of shame and views as a reminder of the corruption that the nobles have brought into the world.

After the ship wreck all Henry had were his parents guns and some of their clothes. The only thing not ruined were his mother's scarf and his father's hat which Henry still wears to this day. He also has a pair of goggles given to him by Kairi to prevent sand from getting in his eyes. A majority of his wardrobe derives from Alabasta fashion as that is where he was raised and trained. His most common outfit is that of black pants a white button up and a brown vest, all things he either found or stole from citizens of Alabasta.

Personality[]

Henry is a very complicated man to say the least. It all depends on how well someone knows him and how well he knows someone else. Because of his upbringing Henry does not trust anyone easily as this method has helped him survive all this time. However there are times when even he has to trust like when he first washed up on shore. An older woman named Kairi helped by providing food, clothes and a place to sleep when he was with her for a period of time he opened up and became protective of her. This is the case with his fellow teammates on the Birds Of Prey.

Henry can be described as wild when he wants to be. He once saved an entire village from some pirates and they thanked him by throwing him a party that lasted three days. During which Henry, drank, danced, and laughed like there was no tomorrow however the second it was over his stone face returned and he left as determined to find trouble as he did when he arrived. Deep down Henry is motivated by his hate for the World Nobles for what they represent, the World Government for allowing them to gain such power and the Navy for protecting them all.

Relationships[]

Wood Benjamin[]

"Whoever stands at the top decides justice, that's the way it’s always been and because of that the ideals of justice have been corrupted, we have to change it my son, those at the top must fall!"
—Benjamin telling Henry about Justice.

Wood Benjamin is Henry's father who taught him how to use his rifle and taught him about his brand of justice. He told Henry that justice was ensuring everyone in the sea was treated fairly no matter what. That's why he and his mother left the Marines they saw how corrupted it had become they saw the people they were protecting and taking orders from, the Celestial Dragons. It's people like them and the rest of the World Nobles that made Benjamin so sick he had to leave the Marines and get Henry away from it all before his ideals or worse his idea of justice was corrupted. Wood Benjamin and his wife Wood Emilia were famous for their sharpshooting skills as navy officers. So much so that the pair earned the nickname the "Last Shots." Benjamin was an excellent combatant having learned the Rokushiki technique of Soru and much later Geppo skills he took with him and often explained to his son how to perform even at a young age. He often boasted he was so fast he could run a mile race, drop his hat and get back to the start before it reaches the ground. Years after leaving the Marines and adopting a simple life of trading and fishing Benjamin met his end along with his wife at the hands of a Celestial Dragons convoy who fired on them for no other reason than being in their line of vision.

Wood Emilia[]

"Be a Marine, be a pirate, be something in-between but whatever you become let it be your choice and yours alone that is your right as a child of the sea!"
—Emilia talking to a young Henry about his future

Henry's mother who valued Henry's right to choose his beliefs above all else. Emilia felt the same way as her husband Benjamin did about the Marines. She knew that the mission of the Marines is to protect and preserve the ideals of justice, but those ideals have been twisted and changed to fit the desires of those in power. However unlike Benjamin she had experiences with nobles who had good intentions, who wanted nothing more than to serve their people. With this in mind she was hesitant to leave the Marines with Benjamin, she felt that the only way to change the system was from the inside but eventually she knew that the task was impossible with just the two of them. So when Henry was born she saw an opportunity, when she looked into his eyes she saw hope for the future, she started teaching Henry about the ways of World as soon as he was born and didn't stop until he learned that he didn't need to change the world but he did have the power too. She taught Henry how to hold and use her revolver at young age and showed off the techniques of Soru and Geppo, as she was able to master these techniques far quicker than her husband. She was such a good shot that she often tied her signature blue scarf around her eyes before shooting and still hit her targets. It wouldn't be until later that Henry realizes that she was using observation Haki to pull this off. Like Benjamin, Emilia met her demise  when the Celestial Dragons convoy destroyed their ship leaving only Henry behind. In her last moments before dying she saw her son swimming to shore with her scarf and his father's hat in hand and smiled knowing he would go on to change the world.

Kairi[]

"You should be proud of your son, the world has been both kind and cruel to him and it seems that it is his turn to be both kind and cruel to the world."
—Kairi talking to Benjamin and Emilia's graves

Kairi was the first person that Henry befriended when he washed up on shore after his parents death. She took him to her hut in Alabasta and gave him food, new clothes and a place to sleep. She became a caregiver to him and helped survive growing up. She even helped him create graves for his parents by the shore where the wreck occurred. As Henry’s real mother had passed Kairi took on the role and soon Henry saw her as such. Similar to Emilia, Henry’s biological mother Kairi encouraged Henry to choose his own fate. She often worried that his decision to attack the ships of world nobles and make the government his enemy was not his own. Kairi knows that Henry’s actions come from his parents death and that though he does all this as a way to honor them. She knows Henry understands his right to choose his destiny but cannot help but feel that if his parents were still alive he would be able to live a nice safe life. When he earned a reputation as a troublemaker throughout the country he started to distance himself from her not wanting her to be considered a known associate of an enemy of the World Government. Before setting out to sea and “disappearing” Henry went to Kairi’s hut to say goodbye and told her he’s been given an opportunity to create real change in the world. It was then that for the first time stated his mission of taking down the corrupted World Nobles aloud. When Henry left there was no sign of him anywhere in the world, his name did not come in newspapers, no his face did not appear in wanted posters for months. Kairi had feared for the worse until a newspaper article talking about a group known as the the Birds Of Prey attacking a Marine base described a young man in a scarf armed with a sniper rifle and dual pistols. After reading the article Kairi stopped by Emilia and Benjamin’s graves and told them to be proud of their son.

Powers and Abilities[]

Physical Abilities:[]

Having put himself through extremely hard Rokushiki training when he was young Henry has developed physical ability at a vastly almost superhuman level. His durability has been significant since his early childhood when he managed to survive his ships destruction when not even his parent who had Marine training could. From then on he only worked to improve himself and be able withstand attack after attack far pass the limits of a common man. In terms of technique Henry is extremely skilled having trained his legs to use Rokushiki training the rest of his body came naturally. He learned basic combat skills so that when he is in a position where he cant use his guns he won't be defenseless and to use with Soru and Busoshoku Haki.

Henry's strength has been described as inhuman by men who have seen him work. Once to get the force of a falling boulder in an impact dial Henry rolled a 22 ton boulder up a mountain and then dropped it on the dial. He also needed lumber to help repair his speedboat and to use whatever was leftover to build a hut. So he damaged a ship belonging to the World Government until it was split in half and dragged half of it back to the shore with nothing but a rope and his bare hands.

Even before learning techniques like Soru Henry's speed and endurance were unmatched in Alabasta. He out ran every animal that chased him and chased down every animal he hunted. Once when a sandstorm came and Henry was camped right in it's path he ran for two days straight to outrun it. When his boat was destroyed after raiding a navy ship he was forced to swim back to Alabasta which was 20 miles away at the time.

Rokushiki[]

Geppo[]

After watching his parents use these techniques Wood researched them and used every piece of information he could get from the Marine ships he robbed and destroyed to help his studies. It took him 7 years of training but eventually he was able to perform at least two of the Rokushiki martial arts techniques that he witnessed his parents perform numerous times. He trained his legs to be able to preform Geppo, this allows Henry to reach great heights, ideal for sniping people where he can reach and see but they cannot, and for quick escapes.

Soru[]

Another technique he often witnessed his parents practice was Soru. This technique was easier for Henry to master as he was already in the process of greatly increasing his speed. Though it still took him years to pull it off he was able to learn it allowing him to perform jobs and attacks then disappearing from the naked eye. He also uses this when working on inventions or his speed boat to preform work that would normally take a day in a matter of hours.

Haki[]

Upon entering the New World the Revolutionary Army required Henry to increase his training ten fold. This meant he had to learn Haki, so after some time under several instructors in the Army he learned both Busoshoku and Kenbunshoku Haki. As a sniper and gunslinger his skills with Haki have greatly improved his skills overall. Kenbunshoku Haki allowed him to better see his targets no matter what as he can always sense their presence , it also allows him to better asses what the best course of action when engaging a target is, as he can sense their strength. Busoshoku Haki allows his bullets to pack that much more of a punch, even with sea prism stone on the tip's using his own Haki feels him with confidence in the New World where devil fruit users are everywhere.

Marksmanship[]

Henry trained day and night with his guns and rifle until he reached a point where he never missed a shot. However he knew even with sea prism stone bullets and his speed and training he would not survive long in the grandline. So he used his skills as an inventor and mechanic to create special bullets that would help him to complete his goals. He created specifics sets of bullets, some to use with his rifle and some to use with his dual revolvers.

Dual Pistols[]

Because his revolvers are good when his concern is speed or actual combat he made sure the bullets reflected that in their attacks. He used material he got from the wreckage of ships to construct his ammunition.

  • Quick Shot (クイックショット Kuikkushotto): One quick shot fired from Henry's Right Revolver (his favorite). Guaranteed to hit whatever Henry's aiming for, fired with a seastone bullet, when he's out of seastone ammunition he coats the bullets in Haki.
  • Dual Shot (デュアルショット De~yuarushotto): Same as quick shot except fired from both revolvers and could either be aimed at one target in different points or multiple targets
  • Crack Shot (クラックショット Kurakkushotto) Henry shoots both revolvers filled with seastone bullets in one quick motion. For him time almost slows and he marks his targets, then takes them out in quick succession for them it seems like 12 bullets hit them before they can react.
  • Scatter Shot (スキャッターショット Sukyattāshotto) When Henry shoots the bullets are fired and then split into several tiny seastone sharp projectiles. Often meant for devil fruit users to shoot a small piece that will prevent them from using their powers.
  • Flame Shot (フレームショットFurēmushotto) The second the bullet leaves Henry's Revolver it spins and begins to ignite forming a whirlwind of flames spiraling at his opponents.
  • Blind Shot (ブラインドショットBuraindoshotto) Bullet fires and starts to Emmitt smoke, once it hits anything the smoke will erupt out from the bullet like an explosion. Rendering the opponent blind, the gas is also flammable, when lit it will combust and cause an explosion. Henry normally wears Goggles given to him by Kairi combined when his observation Haki to help him see in the smoke.
  • Sleep Shot (スリープショットSurīpushotto): Similar to Blind Shot except when the smoke is inhaled the opponent or opponents will be rendered unconscious and fall asleep. When fired or before fired Henry covers his mouth and nose with his mother's scarf to avoid falling asleep himself.
  • Impact Shot (インパクトショット Inpakutoshotto): Similar to quick shot or dual shot except the bullets' are extremely unique. As payment for saving his life a sailor insisted that Henry take some of the cargo he was hauling as payment. The sailor had just come back form Skypeia and the cargo were Dials, Henry took the Impact Dials and used them to create special bullets. Henry has put different amounts of force in each bullet. For example in one Henry put the force of a simple punch so when the bullet hits an opponent they won't just be shot they'll feel as if they've been punched as well. Henry has put several different forces into theses bullets including, a Billy goat's charge a falling boulder, and a speeding train.

Last Rifle[]

Henry got his dual pistol's from his parents, one from each of them however hid rifle belonged to his father. He saw how his father used to practice his rifle skills by killing sea kings and small fish that leapt out of the water for a split second. Henry copied his father's methods and practiced his skills the same way and reached a level where he was able to shoot any moving target and hit his bullets into even the smallest crevice. He tested this by shooting birds circling passing ships on the shores of Alabasta from miles away and shooting the tips of the masts of sailing ships.

  • Precision Shot (精密ショットSeimitsu Shotto): A simple shot from Henry's rifle he aimed with his scope, commonly from a far distance guaranteed to reach it's mark.
  • Grapple Shot (グラップルショット Gurappurushotto): A shot from his riffle that shoots a line to wherever he needs it. Henry can shoot a line straight across a gap to zip line over. Or he can shoot a line to a high point allowing him to use the rope to swing from one place or another.
  • Ricochet Shot (跳弾ショットChōdan Shotto): The bullets fired ricochet from surface to surface until they find their target. Henry uses his scope to scan the target from any distance and when fired the bullets can bounce off of any hard surface, eventually they will always hit their target.
  • Bang Shot (バンショット Banshotto): When fired the bullet has the same properties as a missile. It continues to propel even after being shot and once it hit it combusts causing a major explosion that can destroy an entire half of a large ship.
  • Wave Shot (ウェーブショットU~ēbushotto): This bullet is to be used in the water and when shot can cause a small or large wave to come onto shore or in the ocean depending on what is most useful. Henry uses Impact dials in the bullets to cause this effect and tip ships or wash away opponents.
  • Last Shot (最後の一発 Saigo no ippatsu): Henry's ultimate move and not to be used until absolutely necessary. Similar to bang shot except way more explosive, Henry once tested it and it blew a hole in the middle of the desert so large and deep that it started spouting water in the center and it became a lake. Henry only uses these bullets when up against a foe with substantial amounts of power or when trying to take out entire bases/convoys.

Devil Killer[]

Henry's ultimate weapon, a Gatling gun formed from combining his pistols and his rifles as well as a conjoined part he carries with him. He created this gun after joining the Birds Of Prey, after fighting alongside as well as against such powerful Devil Fruit users he knew he needed something to even the playing field so he created the Devil Killer. When used correctly the bullets can be shot faster than most people's observation Haki can sense. The power of the bullets is amplified and they become similar to small drills, even they hit they dig into people's skin and bone. Even if they miss, which is highly unlikely, wherever they hit the bullets will Scatter into sharp pieces still causing damage to the targets. The way it works is he placed the rifle into the center of the conjoining mechanism and lock it into place and three more slots for bullets to leave through emerge. He then places his pistols into the sides of it to lock alongside the rifle and they spilt with the handles forming one connecting handle on the top with a trigger and the rifle acting as the back brace to hold.

Strategist[]

Henry posses an extraordinary strategical mind. He constantly creates new ways to attack multiple ships that form the conveys of world nobles all at once. He is also able to pinpoint the exact locations to use his sniper rifle to avoid detection, cause chaos and provide a quick get away all after one glance. It is said (mostly by himself) that given enough prep time he can take on any opponent in a one on one fight and emerge victorious.

Mechanic[]

Henry's parents were also inventors who often built machines that they used to help them with their lives as fishermen. Henry carried theses skills with him after they died and used them for many things. He managed to build a small one person speed boat with just some spare parts he found around Alabasta and from shipwrecks. The boat is capable of being controlled remotely, firing torpedo's, and submersible exploration. He was also able to create all his bullets with their unique qualities. He has the unique abilities to see something from nothing like his mother and to make something out of nothing like his father. He uses theses skills to become a great mechanic and inventor

Fishing[]

Having been raised on a fishing ship for a portion of his life Henry is an expert fishermen. He uses his marksmanship skills to shoot fish as practice but also prefers to use the common method of string and a rod. When training his marksmanship skills Henry often shoots and aims for smaller fish. However when training his physical combat skills he aims for larger fish such as Sea Kings. He finds fishing to be a nice calming escape from the harshness of the world and as a way to train his sight and accuracy.

History[]

Early Life[]

Childhood[]

Henry was born on his parents ship when it was anchored on the shores of Alabasta and for a better part of his life was raised on it. He and his parents acted as both fisherman and small time traders transporting goods to and from Alabasta. When Henry was 4 his parents used to tell him stories about their experiences. They told him how they used to be Marines and how they deserted when they saw how truly corrupt meaning of justice had become. They also taught him as many skills as they could between the ages of 4 and 5, and what they could not teach they wrote down for him to learn. This included not only the ways of the world but also techniques that Henry's parents were taught in the Marines. Henry at first thought his parents were magic seeing as how they could fly and move so fast it seemed like they could teleport. His parents told him that they were able to do this due to the training they received while officers of the Marine sand when Henry asked if he could do it to his father told him with enough training anything is possible.

Henry's parents made sure he was aware of the power he had in him, the power to change the world. They taught him that if he truly wanted to change the way the world was he could, it didn't matter how just so long it was his choice. However his parents often had conflicitng interest when teaching him in the ways he could change the world for the better. His father encouraged him to aim for the Marine's to change the meaning of Justice to it's true meaning he would need to attack those at the top who decide it's definition. His mother on the other hand encouraged him to make his own choice. When she looked into his eyes she saw so much potential and hope for the future. She told him no matter what he did he had to take pride that it was his choice. The right to choose what you do with your life is a freedom no one must ever take away, these words echo in Henry's mind to this day.

While trading they spent the majority of their time on the sea going back and forth to docks and shores to receive and deliver new cargo. However when they weren't on the water they spent their time together in the kingdom of Alabasta, they tried not to make to many connections as they never stayed in one place to long but Henry made friends with an older woman named Kairi and soon she became a close friend to the entire family. They became so close that they ended up telling her that they used to be Marines and she did not judge her for being deserters, in fact she encouraged their choice of taking control of their lives.

Losing His Parents[]

One day while leaving the Alabastian harbor Henry and his parents
